Consists of over 5700 pieces of correspondence to Scott along with carbon file copies of approximately 6000 letters written by him; manuscripts including Staying On and My Appointment with the Muse; commissioned reader's reports and book reviews; personal items including military records and photographs of Paul Scott and Paul Scott with family and/or colleagues.

Scott was a British novelist and visiting University of Tulsa visiting professor in 1977.

Consist of handwritten drafts of the short stories, "Desecration" and "How I Became a Holy Mother," published in How I Became a Holy Mother and Other Stories, 1976; the play, "A Lost Cause," [date unknown]; and the novel, Heat and Dust, (1975), all written in three manuscript notebooks with multiple notes and draft fragments clipped to the pages and notes laid in.
